October's Music Theme

This month we will talk about Loud Sounds and Soft Sounds and add their musical terms to our vocabulary.

Sometimes at this stage of the year, some children decide that music time can be too loud for them and may want to stop participating.  Other times, children who were once hesitant about the volume of music time finally want to join in.  By giving the whole class an understanding of what is loud and what is soft, we can be ready to either soften our music time or get prepared to hear a loud part of music...knowing "Forte" and "Piano" sounds will not only help us anticipate volume, but will add to the class' growing sense of control over what they sing and play.
