"Continuing to Read the Rhythm"
The children are very familiar with Resting their voices and instruments when they hear me say; "Ready rest"....so we will advance now to learning to SEE it on the musical staff. When they see a Quarter Rest, they will stop for one beat, and when they see a Quarter Note they will play for one beat.
We will also learn about DRUMS! The different kind of drums and how they sound.

We will learn that this symbol is a quarter note, and that it will get one beat in our rhythm.

We will learn that this symbol, which we have already learned as "ready rest" is called a "Quarter Rest" in music, and means that we stop singing or playing for one beat in our rhythm.
